A Rainy Maternity Shoot | Salmon Creek Park | Portland Maternity Photographer

I know a shoot is going to be good when the couple is excited to get out and take pictures not matter the weather. The rain during this shoot was a shock to me - it had been nice all week, and honestly, I had stopped checking the weather. And then I woke up Friday to rain! I texted Jessica and we chatted for a bit and decided to go for it even though it would be wet.

I am so glad we did. Jessica and Derek were a blast to work with. We had so much fun exploring Salmon Creek park, and they were up for adventuring down trails and into fields. We played with umbrellas and on a bridge, and in a field of logs. It was amazing. She is such a cute pregnant lady.

I've been doing a lot of photography envy recently, specifically around peoples gorgeous and slightly outrageous shoots. Getting a shoot with someone in a creek was on my bucket list. While, low and behold, at Salmon Creek Park we adventured down a trail and found ourselves on a creek bed. We took some pictures of the two of them. And then I asked Jessica if she would be willing to change back into her dress and get in the creek. And she said YES! That was by far my favorite shoot this year, its as so much fun to play and watch her laugh and goof off. And I adore the creek pictures.

Jessica and Derek are expecting their first, and I am so excited! I have known Jessica for years through work, and it was such an honor to take their maternity photos. And I get to take their newborn photos too! I can't wait to share that shoot with you later this summer. In the meantime, enjoy your last few weeks pre baby!
